Finished Sakiori

The Sakiori is finished.
Wool: Cascade Pastaza and Debbie Bliss Donegal Aran.
Needles: 10.5 with 8's for the seed stitch.
Size: Large, with extra length.
I hope it fits. It's hard to tell with such a strange garment. I've started Ben's sweater but it's on hold until after xmas. Here's little Boozy in the window. He's usually too afraid to sit up there during the day.

Sakori blocking, saddle shoulder aran for Ben

The Sakiori for Pa is blocking. It kept trying to curl up as I was knitting the borders so I decided to give it a quick block now. Also neck border was too wide when I followed the directions so I took it out. Almost finished. I'll reblock it after the borders are done. Also I think I'm going to run out of the tweed used in the border. I've knit a sample swatch for Zimmerman's saddle shoulder aran cardigan for Ben.

Mutant Tomato

Also a new bat hat for Ben (number 4? 5?)

Here's a picture of a mutant tomato from our garden. It had the spike very early and seems to be healthy. I'm not sure I want to eat it.

Finished Urban Aran

Here's a quick picture of the finished Urban Aran. I used a two way zipper to avoid bunching. Knit on size 10 needles for the body, 9 for ribbing and collar. Knit in Knitpicks decadence chocolate. I cut out 16 stitches from the body and 1 inch from the sleeves. It's still a looser fitting sweater, more like a jacket. Very warm, very inappropriate for June. I started a new project, Martha from the latest Rowan Spring issue. I'm knitting it in black wool I was given on size 2 needles. I've never knit anything on that small of needles. Should be good for traveling and in between projects. I'm trying to knit entirely Continental (with the yarn in my left hand.)

Vest Patterns

The Urban Aran has it's zipper basted in, just waiting for me to finish. My next project will be a vest for Pa. I like this vest from "Folk Vests," but the random striping doesn't seem too exciting. Especially because the pattern calls for each row to hold two random yarns together. That sounds like a tangled mess.

Old Man Boozy

Boozy models his bow tie, with his best old man impression. Knit with random cotton stash yarn.

Urban Aran blocking

Here's the Urban Aran blocking- I knit front and back continuous so there would be less seams. It seems to be pulling in quite a bit at the diagonal ribbing... We'll see what happens when it's dry.

Urban Aran Sleeve

First sleeve of the Urban Aran from Paton's Street Smart. Very fast knitting, size 10 needles. I'm using knitpicks decadence, 100% superfine alpaca in chocolate. It's a dark color for cables but I like it.

Kitty Pi

Here's Boozy in his kitty pi. It was hard to take a flattering picture. It makes him look fat but I'm not going to tell him. Knit with gifted random wool yarns on size 11 needles. The sides were a little weak, so I folded them over. He has been spending hours every day in here, even though it's been around 70 out. I've included a picture of his other favorite spot, a chair with sheepskin.

Finished Na Craga

The Na Craga has been finished for a couple weeks now, and it was actually cool enough for Ben to wear it. It fits perfectly. I was hoping for some better pictures, but this will do for now. I also knit a kitty pi but when I try to take a picture of Boozy in it, he gets up and crawls over to say hi. I'll keep trying. I've picked out my next pattern, the Urban Aran from Paton Street Smart, modified to a cardigan as seen here. I've purchased the yarn (knitpicks decadence in chocolate) but not the pattern.

The Hats

Bat Hat #2- my own design. Made from hand spun local llama down. This hat disappeared a while ago. Snowflake hat- the one I wear the most. Snowflake pattern from "Traditional Fair-Isle Knitting." I can't remember the author right now. Cat Hat- my own design. Made with a lot of random yarns. One of my first hats.

Mariah on Crystal

My sister Crystal finally sent me pics of the Mariah I sent her! Knit with size 7 needles and Brown Sheep Superwash wool. I've never used superwash wool before, it stretched itself out when I tried to block it. I threw it in the dryer and it shrunk back to shape (weird.) The sleeves were still to long, she's small, so I hemmed the ribbing and she says it fits perfect. I also decreased a couple more rounds for a smaller neck and adjusted cable chart so I didn't have to rib at top (although if I had just made the sleeves shorter...) Finished Feburary 2007. Modeled by Crystal and her wonderful kitty Mokeshaw.

Rogue Sweater

Here's my first sweater, Rogue pattern from http://www.girlfromauntie.com/ Finished August 2006. Knit with Cascade Pastaza on size 7 needles. I think my gauge was a little off as the finished measurements are smaller than the pattern. I've thought about trying to dye this as well.

Na Craga and Recycled Yarn

Here's the almost finished Na Craga (Alice Starmore pattern from Aran knitting) I used Berroco ultra alpaca in saddle brown, knit in the smallest size for Ben. I am adding two inches to sleeve length on fluffbuff's advice. Next picture is a sweater I just bought at Saver's, label has a picture of a llama and "artesanias tamia" made in Ecuador. Size gigantic (note giant kitty in frame for reference.) I'm planning on recycling the very bulky wool and knitting up a smaller sweater. The wool seems to be a natural color, I'm thinking about dyeing it, but I have no experience with dyes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dog sweater for Tator Tot

Completed January 2007, Cascade Pastaza yarn, Smoochy dog pattern from Berroco. A few modifications and added snowflake design. She likes it. Also fits Boozy the cat but he didn't like it too much.

First obligatory cat photo:

Say hello to Boozy:
